Touch-a-Truck Event a Smash For Kids and Families
Saturday's East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce event was a hit with families.
The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce was bustling with fuzzy critters, residents and kids excited to toot horns on military, marine and agriculture transport vehicle during this Saturday's annual Touch-A-Truck event.
The event took up the entire parking lot behind two office buildings; 30 different vehicles from area businesses, organizations and individuals such as a WWII Army Jeep, Army humvee, cement truck, RIPTA bus, and police and fire vehicles from East Providence Police and Fire Departments.
According to Laura MacNamara, executive director of the Chamber, it wasn't just the children who were excited to try the trucks on for size.

"Adults are taking pictures of themselves and posting to Facebook," she said.
She hopes next year's seventh-annual event could be an even bigger affair after Chamber members move its offices to a more spacious venue.

"Don't be surprised if we have a helicopter," she said.
