Two Arrested Following High-Speed Chase Into East Providence

The two suspects were arrested Friday evening after leading police on a high-speed chase from Providence into Riverside.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Two people are in police custody following a high speed chase through East Providence Friday evening. Providence police found the vehicle and, soon after, the two suspects on Waterfront Drive just before 5 p.m.

According to WPRI, police believed the suspects were involved in a robbery at a Metro PCS on Pontiac Avenue. When police tried to stop the car the suspects were in, they took off, leading Providence police on a chase through the South Side of Providence and onto Route 10, heading onto Interstate 195 East.

East Providence police said that they were notified of the chase at 4:45 p.m., but did not take part in the chase. Officers found the abandoned vehicle in the parking lot of 500 Waterfront Dr. in Riverside. Soon after, the two suspects were found following a brief search of the area, and turned over to the Providence police.

The vehicle used in the chase was not registered and was towed from the scene by East Providence police.

A third suspect who knew the suspects but was not directly involved in the chase was found in the area but was not arrested.
