Two East Providence Juveniles Arrested For Allegedly Trying to Set Fires

East Providence Fire Marshal Oscar Elmasian said the juveniles had been trying to start small fires in the laundry room of the Evergreen Apartments.

Police arrested two juveniles Wednesday for allegedly trying to start small fires in a laundry room of an apartment complex.

A call came in at 11:51am on Wednesday, East Providence Fire Marshal Oscar Elmasian said. Maintenance workers at the Evergreen Apartments on Warren Avenue had walked into a laundry room and saw two juveniles trying to set small fires there, he said.

The juveniles, who live at the complex, took off, Elmasian said. When police and firefighters caught up with them in another building, they found other burnt pieces of paper in the hallway that looked like they had been stamped out, he said.
