Two East Providence Residents Charged in Connection With Attempted Robbery

Two East Providence residents are facing charges in connection with the attempted robbery of a convenience store Monday night.
According to new information provided by police Tuesday, they received a report Monday at 8:36 p.m. of an attempted robbery at the Broadway Mart at 1051 S. Broadway.
When police arrived, they were told that a white female had come into the store and tried to rob a cashier by displaying a pocketknife, according to the police report. The woman didn't unfold the knife and she left the store when someone else came in.

The woman got into a car and the male driver drove off along Mauran Avenue, according to the police report. Police later stopped the car on Interstate 195 West.
Tiffany Proulx, 23, and Nicholas Lemoine, 24, of Henry Street were each implicated in the incident. According to the police report, Proulx admitted that she tried to rob the store and said she had taken the knife to Henry Street, where she had placed it on top of the refrigerator. Police later found the knife in the apartment.

Proulx was charged with assault with intent to commit and felony and Lemoine was charged with harboring a criminal, according to Lt. Raymond Blinn. He was originally held for questioning. They were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
