Woman With Children in Car Charged with Drunk Driving

Barrington police charge East Providence woman after she drove her vehicle into the yard of a Nayatt Road home early Sunday morning.

An East Providence woman was charged with drunk driving by Barrington police early Sunday morning, Dec. 4, with two young boys, ages 6 and 7, in her vehicle.

Georgina Montgomery, 49, of 90 Leonard Ave., was charged after she drove her vehicle about 100 feet through the backyard of a Nayatt Point Road home and got stuck in the mud on the banks of Mousochock Creek at about 2:12 am. The home sits in a cul de sac overlooking Narragansett Bay and the creek, police said.

No one was injured. The woman claimed to have been lost, police said.

The Nayatt Road homeowner contacted the police. He told them that the vehicle could not be moved, and that two juveniles were in the vehicle.

Three Barrington police officers and firefighters and EMTs from East Providence responded, police said. Montgomery becamse upset and screamed obscenities at the officers, police said, before reportedly fainting or passing out at the scene. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Both children were taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where they were to be turned over to a representative from the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families.

Montgomery was charged with a DUI first offense and refusing to submit to a chemical test, police said. She also failed a field sobriety test.
