The Town of Foster is seeking an experienced accounts administrator to be the Tax Collector reporting to the Treasurer/Finance Director.

This position is responsible for the collection of taxes, accounts payable and some additional account reconciliation functions; and providing administrative support and office assistance to the Treasurer/Finance Director. 

Full-time position - 35 hours a week Monday-Thursday only. The Town Hall is closed on Fridays.Benefits included: Pension, medical, dental coverage, and paid time off.Work experience and/or education:

  • Associates degree or educational courses in business, accounting, finance, or related field, or at least three years of business, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience preferably in a governmental financial environment.
  • Knowledge of cash management principles.
  • Knowledge of software packages including for tax collections (i.e., Vision), accounts payable functions (i.e., iVision), and payroll (i.e., iVision).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products specifically Word and Excel.

Skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, residents, independent auditors, and state and federal representatives utilizing both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain routine reports and schedules.
  • Must be able to work independently, accurately, and efficiently in a detail-oriented and deadline oriented field.
