• Officer fires weapon during incident in Charlestown (newportdispatch.com) — A 23-year-old Johnston man was taken into custody after an overnight police incident in Charlestown where an erratic driver allegedly rammed a cruiser and tried to flee. No one was injured, one officer fired a weapon, and state authorities are now reviewing the use of force. The case may interest Johnston residents because the suspect is from their town.    

• Woman arrested on warrant, drug charge in Coventry (newportdispatch.com) — A Johnston man was arrested in Charlestown on a drunken driving charge after state troopers recorded a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. His arrest happened while troopers assisted Charlestown police with another incident and he was held overnight before arraignment. Another unrelated drug arrest in Coventry is also briefly detailed.
