JOHNSTON, RI — Two Massachusetts men were arrested during a traffic stop and charged with intending to deliver cocaine, police said.
James Migliori, 57, and Robert Witt, 52, were pulled over and arrested at the Route 6 on-ramp near Hartford Avenue about 9 p.m. Saturday, the Johnston Police Department said in a media release.
Patrol Officers Matthew Lonardo and Carlos Dominquez stopped Migliori and Witt "after observing a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations while traveling on Killingly Street," the release said.
"During the investigation, officers observed the passenger attempting to conceal suspected narcotics in his mouth," according to the release. "The passenger then produced multiple folded manila paper packets from his mouth containing suspected cocaine."
A search of the vehicle "resulted in the discovery of additional suspected cocaine concealed within the vehicle, along with digital scales commonly associated with the distribution of narcotics," the release said. "In total, officers seized approximately 390 grams of suspected cocaine."
Migliori and Witt were both charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act.
The two men were taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions.
