• Massachusetts Man Charged With DUI After Johnston Crash: Cops (patch.com) — A 22-year-old Stoughton, Massachusetts man was arrested after an early-morning crash on Route 6 in Johnston and charged with driving under the influence, according to Rhode Island State Police. He also allegedly refused a chemical test and was held overnight at state police headquarters pending arraignment in Third Division District Court.
   

• Town of Johnston (johnstonsunrise.net) — Johnston residents will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed full liquor license for Cherrystone Oyster Bar at a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Johnston Municipal Court Building. Neighbors can speak for or against the license, and anyone needing interpreter services must contact the Town Clerk's office 72 hours in advance.
   

• Reed joins senior center's 20th anniversary fête (johnstonsunrise.net) — Johnston's Senior Center just marked 20 years in its Hartford Avenue home with a sold-out anniversary dinner celebrating its growth into a beloved "second home" for about 3,000 members. U.S. Sen. Jack Reed joined town leaders, staff, and residents to honor the center's expansion, strong programming, and welcoming atmosphere, with more special events planned through the year.
