The Audubon Society of Rhode Island is hosting a variety of special programs for children this week during February school vacation.
Today children can join the Audubon Society at Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge in Smithfield for Build a Bluebird House. Participants will learn how to help bluebirds and other cavity-nesting birds survive by building a nesting box for them. Each parent/child pair will complete one kit. All materials are provided; however participants should bring a hammer and safety glasses for each builder. Pre-registration is required to assure there are enough materials.
Program fee: $20 per member adult/child pair; $25 per non-member adult/child pair; $15 for each additional birdhouse kit. Recommended for children ages 5 and older.
