Join Pennies for Patients

The RI Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is currently holding its annual "Pennies for Patients" fundraising drive where schoolchildren bring in spare change to their classrooms to donate over a 3-week period.  This year's drive is taking place March 7 thru March 25, 2011.  Schools, however, can participate during any three weeks that work best for them.

Schools that have or currently are participating in Johnston include:

Brown Avenue Elementary School, a participant since 2000

In 2010, 190 schools throughout Rhode Island, 96,000 students, participated in this fun and educational program and raised $247,848.  Our Rhode Island Chapter has had the highest percentage of participating schools nationally for the last several years.

"The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society donates 74% of all donations toward accomplishing its mission to find a cure for the blood cancers - leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease, and myeloma; funding research and patient aid and services."

There is still time to join this program.  For more information call Deborah at LLS at 401-943-8888 or email deborah.watterson@lls.org
