Johnston, DEM Reach Tentative Deal on Dams

The deal would resolve violations issued two years ago that deemed four town-owned dams are unsafe.

Mayor Joseph M. Polisena and the state Department of Environmental Management have reached a tentative agreement to repair four dams that the DEM deemed unsafe two years ago.

The Providence Journal reported that the town would proceed with dam repairs at a "reasonable pace."

The four dams are at the Oak Swamp, Jilson, Upper and Lower Simmons Reservoirs.
