Johnston Man Wins $100,000 with Lucky Lottery Ticket

If you say James Webster Jr. around town, be sure to give him some congrats.

Webster just won $100,000 playing the Rhode Island Lottery’s 40th Anniversary instant ticket game.

Webster, who bought the ticket on Monday night, said “I just want to win a lot” before scratching the numbers.

The first number he scratched won $5,000. Then 19 more numbers revealed $5,000 prizes, bringing the total win to $100,000.

“He was so excited about the win, he called his mother and brother at 10pm to share the news,” the Rhode Island Lottery Commission said in a release.

Webster said he plans to use the winnings to pay bills.

Plainfield Pike Gulf, 1889 Plainfield Pike, Johnston, sold the winning ticket.
