Johnston Trio Earn Bay View Sports Awards
Junior Emma D'Arpino and seniors Rachel Battista and Victoria Shakespeare were recognized during a recent ceremony for their athletic achievements.
Three students from Johnston were among the recipients of Bay View Academy's 2011-12 athletics awards.
Junior Emma D’Arpino was among the school's Underclass Athletes of the Year for her participation in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.
Rachel Battista, a senior at the East Providence school, was a Rose Ceremony Honoree for the following achievements: scoring for her Bay View career; earning Coaches Association First Team All-State honors in Girl’s Basketball; and being named All-Tournament for the state championships.

Fellow senior Victoria Shakespeare earned the Sister Faith Harding Spirit of Sport Award, presented to a senior athlete "who has exhibited a passion, dedication and enthusiasm for team and teammates," according to a school press release.
