Windy Deluge Tonight; Very Cold this Week

Up to two inches of rain expected. Flooding likely, especially where drainage systems are clogged with fallen leaves.

The region could see two or more inches of rain and wind speeds up to 50 mph along the coast as a band of heavy showers passes through the area.

And behind it comes the cold.

A flash flood watch and wind advisory were issued by the National Weather Service through 11 p.m.

Wind gusts will be strong enough to knock down small trees and a few power lines, the weather service said, and the rains will quickly flood low-lying areas and flood-prone streets, especially where drainage systems are clogged with fallen leaves.

The storm had been raining at a rate of a half-inch an hour, the weather service said.

Tuesday will be clear, but cold, with inland temperatures of about 37 degrees and a few degrees warmer along the coast and islands.

Tuesday night’s low is just 20 degrees. There’s a chance of snow on Wednesday, according to NWS.
