Craigslist Ad For 'Naughty Girl' Lands New York Man In Jail Cell

Dean Russell, 55, of Parish, N.Y., was charged Wednesday morning with two misdemeanor sex crimes.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Police pulled over a woman who was allegedly speeding on West Main Road near the former Rocky's store. At the car stop near Coddington Highway, she presented a Rhode Island identification card and told police her license had been suspended. The officer confirmed her license had been suspended license, her second offense. He issued a warning for speeding, and she asked if she could call her uncle to pick up the car. She told the officer she was on the way to Homewood Suites, where he was staying. He was going to use the car for a week.

The officer asked for the uncle's name, and she replied James. The officer asked for his last name. She did not not initially reply but then said his name was James Butler. She agreed to call him to pick up the car.

The man who arrived gave the officer his license, which showed his name was Dean Russell. He also told the police the woman was his niece. Police questioned him about their exact relationship. Initially, he said the woman was his brother's ex-wife's daughter. Then he said, "I don't know it's a long story." Police told him they had time to hear it.

Meanwhile, another officer interviewed the woman who now was saying he was a family friend but not her uncle. Police asked why she was there in reality. She said she had to let him borrow the car. The officers said they would have to continue to investigate if she continued to lie.

Ultimately, Russell told police he didn't want any trouble. The woman had answered an ad he'd placed on Craigslist. He was asked for the price he was going to pay. He replied $140.

The woman then said she answered the ad and was to be paid $140. She denied any sex was involved. They were just going to have dinner, and she would give him a massage after. As proof, she offered her cell phone, so police could view the thread of text messages.

Police said the messages showed her ask him for his location. He tells her Homewood Suites. She later texts to tell him she's been pulled over. She asks him to pose as her uncle and meet her to take the car.

Russell also handed his phone to police, who saw the same text message thread. But officers wanted to know about the money, which was not mentioned in the text messages. He replied the money was probably mentioned in their e-mails. After inspecting the e-mails, police allege he agreed to pay her $140 on May 16. An earlier e-mail on May 10 showed he agreed to pay another woman $150 for "full service" and replied he was "O.k with safe sex."

Police charged him with two counts of Procurement of Sexual Conduct for a Fee, both misdemeanors. The women were not charged or identified.
