Alleged Frosty Freez Robber Turns Himself In
Middletown police said Patrick McElroy, 50, of Fall River, Mass., turned himself in after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest.
The man who allegedly robbed Frosty Freeze in Middletown in April has turned himself in to police.
Middletown police said Patrick McElroy, 50, of Fall River, Mass., turned himself in after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest.
He was held until arraignment on felony breaking and entering charges.
Police said McElroy broke into the Middletown landmark before 11 p.m. on April 10 and stole a few thousand dollars.
Store security cameras captured images of McElroy after he climbed through a ground floor window and walked around inside the store while wearing a sweatshirt, gloves and carrying a crowbar.
Store owners said they're thankful for the hard work of Middletown Police to identify the alleged criminal, especially Det. Tobias, Det. Mey, who they said "have been great!!" on their Facebook page.
Initial reports of the crime sparked an outcry among Middletown residents who felt violated that a beloved local institution would get robbed.
"Who steals from the happiest place on Aquidneck Island?!" asked Alison Carr Gaumond.
