Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport (October 2, 2013) – The Aquidneck Land Trust ("ALT") is pleased to announce an exciting new award we are offering - The Environmental Leadership Award. ALT is dedicated to inspiring young people to care for the outdoor spaces they love. The Environmental Leadership Award supports young leaders who inspire our island community around land conservation and environmentalism.
Seniors enrolled at Aquidneck Island high schools are eligible for this $1,000 merit award. Each school may nominate one student for this award. The award will be granted to that student who has demonstrated leadership and/or commitment to any or all of the following: land conservation, open space, clean water, or environmentalism.
Requirements for the application are outlined in the attached nomination form, which can be downloaded from our website www.aquidnecklandtrust.org.
The deadline for all nominations is March 7, 2014. The award will be presented at the recipient’s school during the end-of-year awards ceremony by ALT’s Executive Director and recognized in a press release and e-newsletter announcement to ALT supporters.
