Deadline Nears for Aquidneck Island Paddle Registration

Kicking yourself for missing last weekend's ?

There's still time this summer to make a splash for three local causes, with the return of the Aquidneck Island Paddle Relay Day & Waterman Competition to Third Beach in Middletown on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The registration deadline remains open through this Friday, July 29.

Now in its fifth year, the annual event raises funds for the , and .

With teams of four competing in relay races off shore, teams will be split into the following divisions: Men’s Stand-Up Paddleboard (3 miles), Women’s Stand-Up Paddleboard (3 miles), Mixed Stand-Up Paddleboard (3 miles), Prone Paddleboard (6 miles), and an Open Recreational Racing Division (Individual, 3 miles).

The Preppy Pig will host a picnic following the race. Awards will be given to winners in each division.

Registration and picnic tickets

• The event is scheduled for Aug. 6 with a rain date of Aug. 7.
• Paddle registration will remain open until July 29 at $50 per paddler.
• The entry fee includes the picnic tickets and t-shirt.
• All participants must bring a personal flotation device (PFD) to participate. No exceptions.
• Picnic-only registration is $40 per person, or $65 for a family of four.
• Race check-in begins at 8 a.m.
• Races begin at 9 a.m.
• Picnic begins at 12 p.m. 
• Parking is limited so participants are encouraged to arrive early.
