The Middletown Historical Society will present a talk on vampires by renowned local folklorist, Dr. Michael Bell.
Did you know that vampires survived the remote areas of New England more than one hundred years before Bram Stoker penned Dracula in 1897? Bell relates his quest to unravel the mystery of these little-known, so-called vampires, beginning with a family story told to him by an old Yankee from rural Rhode Island. A new edition of his award-wining book, Food for the Dead: On the Trail of New England's Vampires, will be published by Wesleyan University Press in the Fall of 2011.
The event is free-of-charge however, nominal contributions to the Historical Society will be gratefully accepted. Suggested donations are $3/person or $5/family.
