Newport Film presents a special, one-time screening of "Gasland," the Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature. OSCAR nominee Josh Fox will be in attendance. This quiet, hard-hitting documentary began when director Josh Fox wondered why a company was offering his family $100,000 to drill for gas on the lands around their house in rural Pennsylvania. After discovering the pollution being wreaked locally, Fox set out on a journey that took him across America, where gas companies are destroying the environment by using the process of hydraulic fracturing, "fracking," to drill for gas. See what he discovers and be part of the OSCAR action! After the screening Fox will talk about how the proposed LNG terminal could affect our area.
