Winter months are the best time to go out in search of owls. During this time of year they are hooting and screeching in search of mates, in defense of their territories, and are also out building their nests. The program will start indoors where you will learn about the different species of owls in Rhode Island, their unique adaptations, and then you will be introduced to Micah, our resident barred owl. Following the presentation, we will head out on the trails in search of owls. We will make frequent stops to listen to their calls and to participate in fun, night hike activities. This program is appropriate for ages 8 and up.
