RISCA Professional Artists Development Workshop: Organizing Your Finances

This workshop is a basic introduction for artists who need help getting their finances in order.  Whether you think of yourself as an arts business or someone chasing a paper tiger, Anna Shapiro can help you
think through basic systems for tracking income and expenses, filing receipts and financial records, setting up bank and credit accounts, and easy ways to stay on top of it all.  She will talk about the difference between your personal bills and your art related expenses, filing a schedule C vs. reporting your arts practice as a hobby, and whether you need financial software or just a pen and a notepad.  We may touch on tax-exempt 501c3 status for organizations as well.  Anna Shapiro is a sculptor, painter, performance artist and public art practitioner.  She has served as the Director of Firehouse13 and currently serves as the fiscal manager for RiverzEdge Arts Project in Woonsocket.
