The Old Colony and Newport Railway offers a special scenic train tour, 2-1/2 hours long. Leaves from Green Lane, Middletown, at 4 pm and heads to Anthony Road, Portsmouth, at the north end of Aquidneck Island. On request, they will make flag stops at the Navy MWR Facility at about 4:05 PM and at Corys Lane, Portsmouth, at about 4:30 PM.
Each train will have a narrated theme related to places and events along the railroad line. The trains will use the Old Colony's heritage passenger cars, representative of railroad cars that operated on Aquidneck Island at the turn of the Twentieth Century. The three special trains will provide a rare opportunity to see the Island, Narragansett Bay and Mt Hope Bay from this perspective.
Round-trip Coach fares will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children. Round-trip fares for the first class seats in the Parlor Car (adults only) will be $15. Discounts for military personnel, AAA and other programs will apply to Coach fares.
Tickets may be purchased from an agent at Green Lane prior to departure or on board at the flag stops.
Reservations can be made at (401) 624-6951.
