Fall Youth Wellness Classes at the Newport County YMCA

Looking for something active for your children to do this Fall? Look no further than the Newport County YMCA. Classes begin September 3rd and run 8 weeks. All classes are 45 minutes long. Check out what we are offering....

Creative Movement                                                                                     Ages 4 & 5 Friday 11am

Using imagery, literature and music children will explore the basic elements of movement. Students will learn different rhythms, basic loc-motor movements, (marching, galloping, skipping, jumping etc.) and create their own dances through improvisations!

Pre-Ballet                                                                                                    Ages 5 & 6 Wednesday 3:15pm

Students are introduced to basic ballet technique, while still incorporating creative movement ideas.

Kids Yoga                                                                                                          Ages 5-10 Tuesday 4pm

Yoga postures, partner work, games and giggles will help build the foundation for a healthy and fit lifestyle while having fun!

Contemporary Dance                                                                                 Ages 7-11 Wednesday 4pm

Students will explore dance techniques inspired by Modern dance, Ballet, Jazz, Pilates and Yoga. Students will learn choreography and also create there own choreography through improvisational exercises motivated by, various concepts, music and students individual ideas.

Dodgeball/Gaga                                                                                                 Ages 7-11      Monday 3:15pm

Gaga is a version of a dodgeball, where players compete in a pit eight sides. The rules are also different from regular dodgeball, with one of the main rules being that players can't throw or carry the ball, but rather they must hit it with their hand or first.
