Feed-A-Friend Food Drive Is Sunday In Middletown
St. George's School students to participate in the 31st Annual Feed-A-Friend Food Drive.
Middletown, R.I.—Middletown residents can expect a visit from a St. George’s School student on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, as part of the 31st Annual Feed-A-Friend Food Drive.
About 150 volunteer students, along with parents and faculty members, will canvass neighborhoods to collect canned items and dry goods to help stock the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center’s food pantry. Middletown residents can expect a visit between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and may leave items in a bag marked “Feed-A-Friend” ready for pickup on front steps or next to mailboxes. Food from the drive allows the center to make up nearly 200 Thanksgiving and holiday baskets distributed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.
Some of the items especially requested this year include: canned or boxed potatoes, boxed stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams, gravy, canned peas and beans.

Last year, the Feed-a-Friend Food Pantry distributed 366 Thanksgiving and holiday food baskets, feeding 609 local residents. In 2013, the food pantry served 341 children under the age of 12 and 230 seniors over age 65.
