Five Rescued after One Boat Sinks, Another's Engine Fails
The rescue came just a day after two men were rescued from a burning boat in a separate incident.

Five people were rescued after one boat sank and another broke down in waters off Sakonnet Point on Tuesday.
Middletown Fire Capt. Adam Westman said that two men on a 17-foot boat called for help when their vessel started taking on water near Sakonnet Lighthouse before 11 p.m.
Three friends arrived to help in a 16-foot boat but that boat had a mechanical issue.

One man was hurt as he boarded the 17-foot boat, Westman said.
A Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Castle Hill in Newport responded but couldn’t get close because of the shallow water.

The men were eventually rescued by a Middletown Fire Department vessel.
Little Compton firefighters said that all the men were from the Boston area and were treated by Little Compton responders.
