Frosty Freez Re-Opens, 5K Race, Kid Builders Workshop, and Story Hours

Here are some best bets to keep your family busy this weekend, April 1-3.

No fooling, the weekend that begins April 1 offers lots of great activities to get into the swing of spring.

  • FROSTY FREEZ SEASON OPENER
    Where/When:
    on Friday, April 1 at 11:30 a.m.
    Why Go:
    As if we really need to answer this. Frosty Freez is opening for the first day of the season. It means warm weather must be on its way!
    Pricing:
    Varies per item.

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    Why Go: Kids can stop in and participate in a workshop in which they’ll learn how to make their own planter. Kids will also receive their own orange apron and an achievement pin.
    Pricing: Free

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m.
    Why Go:
    This all-ages 3.1 mile scenic road race benefits Silveira Nursery School. Prizes will be awarded for various age groups, and all pre-registrants will receive a free t-shirt.  
    Pricing: Online fees are $22/adult and $12/child (including registration fee); $25/adult and $10/child on race day.

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m.
    Why Go:
    Enjoy a reading of “Creepy Crawly Critters” followed by a craft, discovery hike, or introduction to an animal in this program geared toward kids ages 3 to 5.
    Pricing:
    $3 for members; $5 for non-members; One adult per child is admitted free; Children under 3 are free; Pre-registration is required two days in advance

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
    Why Go:
    Storytellers Jeanne Donato, Cindy Killavey, and Clare Vadaboncoeur will present stories for children and families.
