Get Out: Yoga on the Beach, Annie and Polo

A roundup of the long holiday weekend's events to keep your family busy during this staycation.

Lots of great events happenings indoors and outdoors this weekend make it easy to plan a weather-proof holiday weekend:


  • Where/When:
    on Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m.
    Why Go: The students of will perform the family-friendly Broadway hit musical “Annie.”
    Pricing:
    $6
  • YOGA ON THE BEACH
    Where/When:
    Easton’s Beach on Saturday, May 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
    Why Go: will have its class of the season on the beach for an open air class for yoga students of all levels.
    Pricing: $12 for drop-ins or use an existing Innerlight Yoga pass.

  • Where/When:
    on Saturday, May 28 at 5 p.m.
    Why Go: A week before the official start of the Newport Polo Club’s 20th season, they will play against a regional polo club to benefit the Newport Rotary Club and its charitable programs and scholarships.
    Pricing: $10; Children under 12 are free.

  • Where/When:
    from Friday, May 27 to Monday, May 30
    Why Go: Tennis players of all ages are invited to compete in a round robin tournament to support the John J. Hosch Memorial Trust which will help fund the college education of Hosch’s two daughters after he unexpectedly passed away in 2010.
    Pricing: $25 per player
  • 4TH FRIDAYS AT NEWPORT ART MUSEUM
    Where/When:
    Newport Art Museum on Friday, May 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.
    Why Go:  Enjoy the sounds of Island Breeze while browsing the galleries and sampling light appetizers and cocktails.
    Pricing: $5/members; $8/non-members; Cash bar.

  • Where/When:
    Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center on Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Why Go:
    A multi-family yard sale featuring items donated by the community including clothing, toys, furniture, household items and more to benefit the community center.
    Pricing: Free admission.
