This weekend, a free movie, story hour, Explorations Center, Valentine's Day events and the return of Owl Prowl are some best bets for familiy activities.
FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK
- MOVIE NIGHT: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
Where/When: on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.
Why Go: Watch the recently released PG movie on a 92-inch HD projector while the family splits a yummy pizza.
Pricing: The movie is free.
- STORY TIME WITH MISS LYNN
Where/When: on Friday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m.
Why Go: A reading of Love, Splat by Rob Scotton and other cat tales, plus a crafting activity.
Pricing: Free
Where/When: on Friday, Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Why Go: Learn about owls that are native to Rhode Island and local to Aquidneck Island, meet the sanctuary’s own resident Barred Owl Micah, and then head out for a night hike on the sanctuary grounds to listen for the calls of the owls. For ages 8 and older.
Pricing: $8/member; $10/non-member. To register, call 846-2577.
Where/When: on Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy an Open House at the Discovery Center and a 3 p.m. performance by award-winning storytellers, the Tandem Tellers.
Pricing: A donation of $5 per family is suggested- VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY
Where/When: in Tiverton on Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Children ages 3 and up who are able to stay and participate without a parent will enjoy fun, games, gymnastics, crafts and goodie bags.
Pricing: $12 for first child, $10 for each additional sibling; Pre-registration is required by calling 624-1403. - VALENTINE'S DAY CHOCOLATE PARTY
Where/When: on Monday, Feb. 14 from 3 to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Children ages 6 and up get to enjoy candy and hot chocolate, plus create Valentine's Daymessages, gift bags and crafts.
