Home for the Howl a Days Starts Thursday at Middletown's Potter League

The Potter League is holding a special adoption event, and cutting adoption fees in half for all pets age 7 months up.

MIDDLETOWN, RIβ€”Starting Dec. 8, Potter League is hosting a special adoption event to encourage pet lovers to bring "a new best friend home for the holidays."

According to the pet experts, the holiday season is the perfect time to provide a shelter dog, cat, or small animal with a loving home.

And to encourage pet adoption and bring even more joy to Rhode Islanders’ homes this season, Potter League is hosting a β€œHome for the Howl-a-Days” Adoption Promotion.

"All adoption fees are half off all animals (seven months and older). The deal runs from Thursday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 11.

Nickle, the 14-year-old orange and white tabby, came home from Potter League more than a year ago. She is taking over the computer keyboard now to explain how the adoptions work.

"First, forget any bad thing you've ever heard about dogs, cats, birds or the other pets. We are so happy to come home, we'll be really good. You'll sing our praises. You won't be able to believe how nice we are. You'll wonder how you ever managed without us.

"Take my sister, Twila, for example. She had a reputation, I'm told. I don't want to be catty, but she did. She is such a good kitty now. She won't even wake my mother up for breakfast. And Twila loves to eat.

"Charlie, Twila and I came from Potter League. Asia was a stray. Gabby, the Peke-a-Poo, came from Providence Animal Rescue League. We have all been her favorites.

"One thing's for sure, we were all bargains. But I can't believe the deal they're cutting on all pets 7 months old and up.

"Half off adoption fees? Potter League will be going out of business if it keeps that up.

"So, if you're still hesitating, I'd say this. My mother is a dog person, and since she doesn't know too much about kitties, over the years, my brothers Asia and Charlie, and my sister, Twila, and I have had to coach her on a few things, like brushing us. (Yeah, we mostly don't like it.) But she's doing okay and buying us good toys, letting us have the treats we like, go down cellar when we want and other stuff.

"We've all been pretty easy going.

"So, until the Potter people catch on, this adoption promo means a chance to make everybody's holiday happy. Grab it. Please consider one of my buddies waiting at the shelter for a forever home.

"Turning it back over now, and wishing everyone Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

Nickle.
