In Case You Missed It...Good Morning America's Take on Newport

The ABC morning program celebrated our city for its "breathtaking views."

We already knew just how lucky we are to live in Newport, but on  Monday morning, ABC's "Good Morning America" reporter Lara Spencer shared Aquidneck Island's City by the Sea with the rest of the U.S. during the show's countdown of the 10 Most Beautiful Places in America.

Newport was nominated for the list, which includes Point Reyes, CA, Asheville, NC, and others, by viewer Lisa Gecelosky of Bernville, PA.

After a brief segment on Cape Cod, Spencer focused in on Newport, which she said she has been visiting every summer with her family for the past 10 years.

After a visit to the , Spencer headed down Bellevue Avenue to the , where she squeezed in a game on the famous grass courts.

"A few days ago Andre Agassi was here, and now I'm defiling it," she said jokingly.

Spencer then took her family down to , where they dined on lobster, calamari and chowder at 22 Bowens.

After a little bit of relaxing on the Adirondack chairs at , Spencer's family ended the day on one of 12 Meter Charter's Sunset Sail Cruises.

"It's relaxing, but it's also exciting," Spencer said about Newport. "It's about discovery, about history. It really is one of my favorite places."
