Jessie Bordner, a resident of Middletown, RI recently completed the Marine Systems program at IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Bristol, RI. Mrs. Bordner graduates with a certificate from IYRS, a non-profit, post-secondary vocational trade school that is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).

IYRS School of Marine Systems requires a higher level of skill and commitment of students than that of similar institutions of higher education. After completing the intensive six-month program, students are prepared for a number of job functions in the marine industry and beyond, such as diesel mechanic, marine technician, systems engineer, marine electrician, contractor, and engineer aboard a power or sailing yacht.

Mrs. Bordner has successfully completed the full-time Marine Systems program, which is considered a leader in educating students to enter the marine industry workforce. Students in this program learn all the inner workings of a modern or classic powerboat. They learn critical troubleshooting techniques, and ultimately learn how to install repair and maintain each system within the boat. Many students leave the program having earned valuable industry certifications from the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) and the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA).
