Man Throws Woman Off Porch, Police Allege
Police said they arrived at the Middletown home and found the victim, 56, "lying on the ground and crying uncontrollably."

MIDDLETOWN, RI—Police arrested Ramon Rodriguez at 8:58 p.m. on April 18 at his home. He is charged with Domestic Simple Assault and Battery. According to the arrest report, the Middletown Fire Department called police for help with a woman who had fallen in the yard and might have broken bones.
The first officer on scene found the victim, a 56-year-old woman, on the ground and crying for help. He told her the rescue was on the way. She replied, "He threw me off the stairs," meaning the suspect. Initially, she was in too much pain to explain what happened, the officer said. But later when the rescue came, she told police she had gone to a store in Newport to buy Spanish food when Rodriguez came into the business and accused her of cheating on him. She left, went to another store and then went home. She told police she hoped Rodriguez had already gone to bed.
But as she put her key into the door, he pulled it open and started quarreling. Then he threw her off the porch. Other officers arrived and interviewed him. Rodriguez claimed she fell off the porch because she was surprised to see him. Police charged him with one misdemeanor.
