Middletown Boys Lacrosse Defeated by South Kingstown on Home Turf

The Middletown High School boys lacrosse team was defeated at home Tuesday night, losing 11-2.

There was nothing pretty about the Islanders' loss on Tuesday night, at home against the visiting South Kingstown Rebels. The boys from just looked lost all night. They played with passion, but mixed that passion with some bad passes and offensive miscues.

South Kingstown scored early and quite often in the first half. They played like an offensive juggernaut against the home team Islanders, scoring 9 first half goals to Middletown's 1.

Halftime was as silent as can be at Gaudet Field—in the stands and on the field.

The second half saw the goaltending from Middletown practically shut down the once hot SK team. The only problem was that the Islanders couldn't get enough offense to match their second half goaltending.

The Islanders only scored one second half goal and, as the clock ticked down, many people probably were glad it was just over.

The final score was 11-2, in favor of the visiting Rebels.

South Kingstown was led offensively by #22 senior Cam Ormistch, who scored 4 on the night.

The Islanders offense came from #54 Ned Murphy and #92 Field Martin, who each had one goal.

Looking Ahead

The South Kingstown Rebels move into a virtual first place tie with East Greenwich with a 3-1 record in Division II South with a 5-1 overall record. Their next scheduled is on the road against Providence Country Day School on Thursday. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Middletown Islanders fell to 3-2 in the Division and 4-3 overall. They will try and put tonight's game behind them and push on. Their next game is also on Thursday, April 21 when they visit Lincoln High. Start time is 4:30.

The test of a true champion at any level is how they respond to adversity. How will the Islanders respond? Check back and find out.
