MIDDLETOWN, RI — A 16-year-old girl at Middletown High faces a misdemeanor charge for tampering with a school alarm. Authorities said the teen, whose name is not being released because she is juvenile, lifted the clear box around the alarm, which made it ring. The incident happened on May 10 around 11:30 a.m., and prompted the teachers in the Anchor Academy Hallway to evacuate the building.
The girl ran away when the alarm went off and fled from teachers. However, she did not pull the actual alarm, police said. She was located in one of the classrooms. An officer took the student to the police station, where she was released to her grandmother's custody. She is being charged with one misdemeanor for False fire/police alarm with intent and vandalizing a fire alarm
