Middletown Police Charge 28-Year-Old Man with Domestic Vandalism

The charge was in connection with breaking the victim's car head lamp.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—David T. Scott, 28, of Middletown, was charged on Jan. 9 at 12:13 a.m. with domestic vandalism, malicious injury to property. According to the arrest log, he is accused of going to a Constellation Avenue home and starting an argument with the occupant.

Police were called at 11:15 p.m. to speak with the victim, who told them she refused to let Scott into her home and asked him to leave. He allegedly walked down the stairs to her car across the road and kicked the passenger front side head lamp so hard it came away from the fender and the bumper. After examining the damage, Middletown police issued a 24-hour domestic pickup on Scott on the domestic vandalism charge.

Meanwhile, police allege Scott's father arrived to check on the victim's safety. He told officers his son asked him for a firearm and allegedly made a threat.

Newport police stopped Scott's car on Beacon Street at West Main Road and notified Middletown.

Middletown police officers took Scott into custody.
