Middletown Seeks Volunteers For Town Commissions

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Middletown is looking for volunteers to join the town's Tree Commission and Conservation Commission.

The Tree Commission oversees town tree management. It meets on the last Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. at Middletown Public Library. In addition to the planting and maintenance of trees on public property, the Tree Commission manages a program to provide subsidies for
homeowners to buy trees at local nurseries, and reviews required landscape plans for commercial developments in town.

The Conservation Commission meets regularly on the second Monday of each month to consider
development applications that might impact the island's natural resources, such as the construction of a building in a watershed protection district. The Conservation Commission serves to promote and develop the natural resources, protect the watershed resources and preserve natural aesthetic areas.
