Middletown U14 Boys Soccer Team Brings Home the State Cup
The Middletown U14 Boys Soccer Team beat out Burrillville on Saturday and the Portsmouth Patriots on Sunday to claim the state championship cup.

The Middletown U14 Boys Soccer Team captured the state cup on Sunday with a 3-1 win in Smithfield over island rival, the Portsmouth Pirates.
The Middletown Youth Soccer Club team participated in the June 25-26 2011 Rhode Island Cup Soccer Championship Cup in Deerfield Park, Smithfield.
To advance to Sunday's title match, the Middletown squad first beat out Burrillville in a semi-final match in which Middletown's Connor Murphy and Matt Violet each scored goals for the 2-0 win. Coach Tim Brown also credited a tough defense with exceptional performances by the U14's Justin Bartenbach and Alex Leite. Â

In their match-up against the tough Portsmouth Pirates team on Sunday, Nate Offenberg, Max Lennon and Rodrigo Pelayo scored the goals for the day to secure a win 3-1 and bring home the title. Jameson McQuade, Tim Powell, Matt Shinego and Dan Brown did well in defense for that match, said Coach Brown.
The Middletown U14 Boys Soccer Team finished their 2011 season with an overall record of 10-1 on the year.
