Obituary: Arthur A. Botelho, 86

Athur A. Botelho, 86, of Peckham Avenue, Middletown, RI, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Grand Islander Healthcare Center in Middletown.

He was the husband of the late Florence (Langis) Botelho.

Born in Middletown, RI on June 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Manuel and Agnes (Amaral) Botelho.

Arthur was a heavy equipment mechanic for Verizon for over 35 years before retiring. He was also employed at Saccucci Lincoln-Mercury for over 30 years and worked with his brother, Manny, on the family farm for many years. Arthur was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR, baseball and football. He was a 1946 graduate of Rogers High School.

He is survived by his dear friend and companion of 36 years, Susan Vincent of Portsmouth, RI; his brothers and sisters, Manuel Botelho, Jr. of Middletown, RI, Agnes Pinto of Middletown, RI, Almorinda Demko of Bethlehem, PA, and George Botelho of Portsmouth, RI; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.

He was the father of the late Matthew Albert Botelho and the brother of the late Alice Roderick, his fraternal twin sister, and Margaret Warner and Frank Botelho.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 8:00 AM from Memorial Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI.

Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.
