Obituary: Barbara Ann Christ, 80

Barbara Ann (Bloom) Christ, 80, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital Providence, RI.

She was the wife of Michael E. Christ of Middletown, RI.

Born in Newport, RI on February 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Marion L. (DeLaVergne) Simmons and the late Herbert W. Bloom of Flint Michigan.

Barbara worked for the late Fred Alofsin, orthodontist and former Mayor of Newport for many years. She also worked for the late John Flynn at the Goat Island Marina in Newport. She loved gardening, yard sales, reading, helping animals, and was an avid movie lover and Patriot’s fan.

Besides her husband of 48 years, she leaves a daughter, Barbara A. Gadoury of Middletown, RI, her brother E. Allen Bloom of East Providence, RI and her sister Marion L. Outlaw of Middletown, RI.

She was preceded in death by her brother the late Herbert W. Bloom II.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday November at 11am, in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport.

Burial will be private.
