Obituary: Irina "Rina" Berina, 84, Engineer

Irina Berina, 84 of Middletown RI, and formerly of Cambridge MA died Sunday August 30 at the Newport Hospital in Newport RI with her family by her side.

Rina was born in Yagotin, Ukraine and resided in Kiev Ukraine until she left former Soviet Union in the summer of 1976. She is a graduate of Kiev Structural Institute and had a fulfilling career as a construction engineer. She continued with her engineering career in United States, her adopted country that she loved very much.

She retired at the age of 69. Not one to sit still for long, she started to work part time for Barmakian jewelers where she chatted with customers, sold jewelry and made many friends for another 10 years.

Mama-Rina is survived by her daughter Alla Berina and her son-in-law Adam Dunstan of Middletown RI and her beloved Shiatsu, Puffy.

A funeral will be held on Friday September 4, 2015, 11am at the Hoffman Jewish Memorial Chapel, 11 Fowler Ave., in Newport, followed by a burial at the Beth Olam Cemetery on Wyatt Road in Middletown RI.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, after the funeral at the residence of her daughter and son-in law at 12 Wedgewood Drive, Middletown RI.
