Obituary: March Gruchy, 58

Mark Gruchy, 58, of Middletown died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Newport Hospital.

Mark was the husband of Karen (Drabic) Gruchy.

He was born in Framingham, MA, son of the late Douglass Gruchy and Opal Kinsman.

Mark worked for Cardi Concrete as a truck driver for about 18 years and as a diver and owner of Mark’s Mooring and Maintenance Service.

Being an honest and hardworking man of many trades, friends and family remember him as a Marine and Vietnam Veteran, former motorcycle mechanic and bike shop owner, a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, a lifelong Harley Motorcycle rider and Easyrider Rodeo medal winner, and Commercial Diver with a big heart and outgoing personality. Also known as “Captain Seaweed, ” Mark enjoyed spending most of his time on the water with his wife and loyal dog Max, as a boat owner and Newport Yacht Club Member.

Besides his wife Karen, he leaves his daughter Jamie E. Anderson of Newton, MA. He also leaves his brothers and sisters; Timothy Gruchy, Jon Gruchy, Debora Hughes, Kim Aikens and Darie Newman.
