Michael "Mike" DeMarco, 92 of Middletown, RI died Saturday December 27, 2014 at his residence of 46 years, after a short illness.

Michael “Mike” DeMarco, 92 of Middletown, RI died Saturday December 27, 2014 at his residence of 46 years, after a short illness. He was the husband of Angela N. (Paliotti) DeMarco, his wife of 63 years.
Born in Swansea, MA on Sept. 27, 1922, he was a son of the late Michele and Adelia (Levesque) DeMarco. Michael was brother to Henry, Patrick and Nolan DeMarco, Floretta Iadicola, Demerise DiGiammo, Ida Banville, Eva Dube, Rose Plamondon, and Christine Ruest. Michael is survived by his daughter Deborah Anne DeMarco, and life partner Eric Andrew Stumpo of Riverside, and several nieces and nephews.
A veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of Rhode Island BS Engineering, Brooklyn Poly Tech and Adelphi University MS Engineering; Michael began his career at Sperry Rand on Long Island NY, continuing on to Kolmorgan Optical in Northampton, MA and culminating with a 20 year tenure at NUSC in Newport. Michael was awarded numerous patents for his work for the US Government, and was so honored at his retirement. Michael’s dreams for the future included wind power to drive automobiles, and chainless bicycles to serve the public.

Michael was an avid golfer, a member of the Green Valley Country Club, and golfed late into his 80’s. Michael was a member of St Mary’s Parish and served as an usher there. He spent many years traveling abroad with his wife, and many more years on projects with his daughter.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, from 4-7pm in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport. His funeral will be on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, Spring St., Newport. Burial will follow at Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.
