Obituary: Sally A. Rawnsley, 65

Sally A. Rawnsley, 65, of Middletown died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI.

She was married to the late Renton C. Rawnsley.

Born on June 24, 1949 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late John C. and M. Corinne (Murphy) Riley.

Sally was a graduate of Rogers High School in Newport and also graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, as an LPN. Throughout her travels with her family in the military, she was very active in the various parishes that she attended. She was also very active in St. Lucy’s Church in Middletown, RI. She liked gardening, knitting and enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by children, Sarah A. Rawnsley of Warwick, RI, Christopher J. Rawnsley and his wife Susan of Portsmouth, RI, and Brian J. Rawnsley and his wife Jessica of Barrington, RIher brothers John Riley of Lynn, MA, Thomas Riley of Fall River, MA, David Riley of Newport, RI, and Joseph Riley of Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, Christopher Rawnsley, Thomas Connell, Patrick Connell, and Aiden Rawnsley, and her great grandchildren, Leah Connell, Faith Rawnsley, Patrick Connell Jr., and Madelyn Connell.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Riley.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2015 from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport

Her funeral will be held on Thursday April 30, 2015, at 8am from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.

Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
