Obituary: Shirley Mellin, 77

Shirley A. Mellin, 77, of Wood Road, Middletown, R.I., died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Village House in Newport. She was the wife of CPO James G. Mellin, USN Ret.

Born in Boston, MA on March 2, 1937. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Habib) Telage.

Growing up in Boston, Shirley attended local schools and graduated from South Boston High School. She traveled the world with her husband while he served in the United States Navy.

Besides her husband Jim, she leaves 2 sisters, Judy Robinson of Middletown, RI and Delores Kane of Long Beach, CA and her nephew Erik Robinson of Middletown, RI. At the request of the family, funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Lucy’s Hearth, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
