Police Recognize Middletown Man for Returning Bank Bag Filled with Cash
Charlie Laurin found the bag in the middle of the road on Aquidneck Avenue on April 30.

Charles “Charlie” Laurin of Middletown found a bank deposit bag lying in the middle of the road on Aquidneck Avenue recently and promptly brought it to the Middletown Police Department.
The bag contained more than $2,700 cash and the police department is now publicly thanking Laurin for his good deed.
“The Middletown Police Department would like to recognize Mr. Laurin for his honesty and integrity in turning over the found property to the police department,” police said in a release.

Laurin reportedly noticed a large amount of cash inside the bag when he picked it up, police said, and it would have been easy for him to steal it. Instead, the owner of the bag was located by police and it was returned, not a penny missing.
Police called it an “outstanding deed.” But for Laurin, it was the right thing to do — the only thing to do.
