Procrastinators' Alert: Extensions Due Today
If you took the Automatic Extension to file your tax returns, time's running out
MIDDLETOWN, RI -- Tax returns are supposed to be postmarked by today. But don't feel too bad if you're last minute.
According to the IRS, millions of people use the automatic extra time. In 2009, the year the IRS wrote a story about it, the number was up to some 10.25 million people who filed after the April deadline.
And those were just the individual returns. The IRS said 5.5 million businesses also delayed.

Any amounts owed were still due in April, though.
