"Purple Up" for Military Kids

On 11/30, students at Gaudet Middle School & Middletown High School are invited to wear purple to show appreciate for military families.

Islanders Committed, a student group dedicated to making Middletown a safe and healthy community, is celebrating military families with a Purple Up to close out Military Family Month! Students at Gaudet Middle School and Middletown High School are encouraged to wear purple on Wednesday, November 30 to show support for military families.

Military Family Month is celebrated each November with a proclamation by the President of the United States for the Department of Defense and citizens to honor the commitment and sacrifices made by the families of service members.

Middletown has a high population of military families because of its proximity to the Naval War College. As of September 2016, there were over 500 candidates enrolled in the War College.
