Rebuilding Together Seeks Applications from Aquidneck Island Homeowners in Need

Applications for assistance due by November 7

The Greater Newport affiliate of Rebuilding Together is seeking applications from area homeowners whose houses are in need of rehabilitation and who lack the resources to fund the necessary repairs.

All work is done free of charge using donated funds and materials from community partners. Rebuilding Together volunteers will provide all the skilled and unskilled labor, and the work will be completed in one day.

Rebuilding Together is a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing with more than 40 years of experience. Together with community partners, Rebuilding Together works to transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes.

Rebuilding Together’s local affiliates and nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects nationwide each year. The Greater Newport chapter of Rebuilding Together was established in 2001. Newport area volunteers work to preserve and revitalize homes to help ensure that low-income home owners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled, and families with children, live in warmth, safety, and independence.

To be considered, the house must be owner-occupied and located in Newport, Middletown or Portsmouth. Completed applications are due by November 7. If accepted into the program, work on the homeowner’s property will take place in April, 2017.
